Wayne Rooney has claimed that Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is at 'breaking point' following his side's Carabao Cup exit against Grimsby.

There is much speculation about Amorim's future at Old Trafford after United were beaten on penalties by the League Two side.

Amorim criticised his players after the game, which Rooney suggests is a major concern.

United legend Rooney also indicated that Amorim has found it difficult to adapt to being the manager of such a high profile club.

Speaking on BBC Sport, Rooney said: 'It was difficult to watch, I did feel there were a lot of positives in the Arsenal game, first game of the season, and then Fulham was a disappointment in the performance and then to go to Grimsby and lose in the cup with a lot of the starting eleven involved in the game, the best players involved in the game.
