Manchester United's Reserves slipped to a 2-0 defeat against high-flying and free-scoring Everton in Premier League 2 as the Merseysiders bagged a goal in each half.
The first half was a scrappy affair, largely contested in the midfield area, with the Toffees having the only chances of note. Gethin Jones sent over a misdirected cross that Sam Johnstone flipped over for a corner and the keeper also held a stinging drive by Callum Connolly.
Yet there were no signs of any breakthrough until Axel Tuanzebe played a ball back into his own box to Regan Poole.
