Preview: United Women v Leicester City

THE OPPOSITION

Kirk’s side are currently third in Group B, one point behind the Reds and trailing first-placed City by two.

Leicester opened their campaign in this competition with a 2-1 victory over Liverpool - former United midfielder Aimee Palmer opened the scoring. Natasha Flint equalised for the visitors just before half-time, but Hannah Cain’s strike shortly after the restart secured all three points for the hosts.

Their next test in the Conti Cup would come in the form of Manchester City, with Kirk’s players gaining control of the game prior to the interval. A quick-fire double from Janice Cayman and Sophie Howard set them on their way, but Deyna Castellanos and Laura Coombs each struck in the second half to secure at least a point for Gareth Taylor’s side.
