The Harry Gregg Foundation said he died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, in Coleraine at the age of 87.
“The Gregg family would like to thank the medical staff at Causeway Hospital for their wonderful dedication to Harry over his last few weeks,” they said in a statement.
“To everyone who has called, visited or sent well wishes, we thank you for the love and respect shown to Harry and the family.”
Not only did Gregg survive the Munich Air Disaster in 1958 but he also returned to the plane to rescue team-mates and other passengers in an act of incredible bravery.
