Marcus Rashford helped England to make history on Tuesday night as the national team won a World Cup penalty shootout for the very first time.

The Manchester United striker only played for the last seven minutes of extra-time but he smashed in the second of his side's spot-kicks as Colombia were beaten 4-3, following a tense 1-1 draw over 120 minutes.

The South Americans had snatched an equaliser in injury-time at the end of normal time, as giant defender Yerry Mina's header cancelled out Harry Kane's 57th-minute penalty.

When it came to the shootout, Colombia seemed to be in control of the concluding last-16 tie when they converted three attempts, including the first one by former United forward Radamel Falcao, and thwarted England's third with a brilliant save by Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina to deny Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson.
