Marcos Alonso 'turns down a two-year deal from Man United as the former Chelsea star wants to see out his contract with Barcelona'... as Erik ten Hag continues search for emergency left back

Marcos Alonso will not join Manchester United this summer after turning down a two-year deal and intends to remain at Barcelona instead.

The 32-year-old emerged as a potential candidate to fill the void left by Luke Shaw, who suffered a muscle injury which is expected to keep him out for a number of months.

According to Spanish outlet Marca, United approached Barcelona last week to sign the defender on loan for this season.

The Red Devils offered Alonso a two-year deal, which would have seen him remain at Old Trafford after his current contract with Barcelona expires at the end of the season.
