Manchester United's Alexis Sanchez, who is currently on loan at Inter Milan, suffered an injury while on international duty with Chile.

The forward was hurt during his country's goalless draw with Colombia and tests have confirmed he dislocated his left ankle and also sustained tendon damage.

Following consultation with United's medical department, it has been agreed that he will travel to Barcelona for more examinations, in order to decide whether an operation will be required.

Alexis joined Inter in the summer on a season-long deal and made his debut in mid-September against one his former sides, Udinese.

The 30-year-old scored his first goal for the Neroazzurri in a victory over Sampdoria last month.
