The 79-year-old reigned as King of Spain from 1975 until his abdication in 2014 and recently met Ibrahimovic after travelling to England as a guest for Manchester City's home clash with Liverpool.
Juan Carlos I had taken in the crunch Premier League clash on Sunday - sitting alongside City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak in the Etihad stands.
Ibrahimovic wasted no time in sharing the moment, taking to social media platform Instagram to share a snap of himself and the former monarch.
