Manchester United risk club-versus-country row after 'BLOCKING' Alejandro Garnacho from joining up with Javier Mascherano's Argentina Under-20s side for the upcoming Sudamericano tournament

Manchester United have reportedly blocked Alejandro Garnacho from joining up with Argentina for international duty.

The South American Under-20 championship, known as the Sudamericano, starts next month with former Barcelona and Liverpool star Javier Mascherano leading the Argentine team.

However, TyC Sports have reported that Garnacho is one of five players who have not been released by their clubs for the tournament, risking a club-versus-country row.

Garnacho had been expected to feature at the tournament after not making the senior squad which lifted the World Cup in Qatar.

However, his performances have seen him grow in importance for Manchester United this season.
