Manchester United were unsuccessful in their bid to bring in one final player on deadline day, according to reports.
The Red Devils were in the market for a midfielder having failed in their pursuit of Brighton's Carlos Baleba earlier on in the summer transfer window.
That disappointment came after the club had bolstered their attack by signing Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha from Brentford and Wolves respectively, having struggled in front of goal last season.
They have also allowed several high-profile players to depart to countenance their lavish summer spending spree.
