Manchester United coach Eric Ramsay 'approached to become Minnesota United manager' as MLS club seeks replacement for interim who quit seven weeks before season opener

Minnesota United have pinpointed Manchester United assistant coach Eric Ramsay as their top managerial target, according to reports.

The MLS club are still scrambling to appoint a new manager just five days before their season opener against Austin FC after interim head coach Sean McAuley quit to join Indy Eleven at the start of January.

And according to soccer transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Ramsay has been approached by Minnesota chiefs to take over at Allianz Field.

Talks between the two parties are said to be 'ongoing' and 'progressing well' as the club looks to put a new man in place before Saturday's curtain-raiser against Austin.
