Manchester United chiefs meet Edinson Cavani for showdown talks in bid to convince him to stay for another year as striker continues to be linked with summer exit after 'not feeling comfortable' with life in England

Manchester United's powerbrokers held talks with Edinson Cavani on Tuesday as they look to convince him to stay.

Newly-appointed director of football John Murtough and executive vice chairman Ed Woodward met with the Uruguay international at noon to discuss whether he wants to extend his contract at United for another season.

Cavani's future was plunged into doubt earlier this month amid interest from Argentine club Boca Juniors and the player's father Luis revealing his son did not feel comfortable in England.

It was also reported that Cavani was unhappy over his treatment at the hands of the English FA, who banned him for three games in January and fined him £100,000 for using the word 'negrito' in a social media post.
