Paul Merson believes Manchester United are on the 'verge of a meltdown' if they don't finish in the Premier League top-four this season.
United were top-of-the-table in January but have dropped 13 points in their last eight league games, allowing Manchester City to go 14 points clear ahead of Sunday's derby at the Etihad.
They have drawn their last three matches 0-0 in all competitions and ex-Arsenal defender Merson insists it would be a 'major collapse' if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side now failed to qualify for next season's Champions League - they are currently five points ahead of fifth-placed Everton.
