Man United's Champions League clash with FC Copenhagen is paused for several minutes after medical emergency in the crowd... before stadium announcer confirms the fan is 'awake and well'

A medical emergency caused Manchester United's Champions League match against FC Copenhagen to be paused on Wednesday night.

The game was brought to a halt for several minutes after United made an early substitution when Raphael Varane replaced the injured Jonny Evans and then it was announced that a supporter had been taken ill.

The players were left standing and waiting on the pitch before the referee finally blew his whistle to resume play.

The stadium announcer confirmed later in the first half that the supporter was 'awake and well' after the health scare.
