Luke Shaw expects to wrestle back his Manchester United place when fully fit, with a contract extension in the offing too.
The left back's deal runs out at the end of the season but Jose Mourinho is likely to exercise the one-year option on a player United paid £30million for in 2014.
Ankle ligament damage has kept Shaw out since April but the England international has been training for the last few weeks.
Mourinho has a dearth of quality options at left back with Shaw's focus now on regaining the starting spot he struggled to claim last term.
