Liandro Martis, a 20-year-old forward who had a trial with Manchester United, is to sign for Premier League rivals Leicester City.
The Curacao international was looked at by United coaches after attracting their attention when he scored a fantastic goal while playing for Oldham Athletic against Preston North End in a pre-season friendly.
However, the Foxes have swooped for Martis, who is expected to pen a three-year deal with the champions.
Martis, a free agent formerly of Dutch side Feyenoord who was offered a deal by League One Oldham, scored for Claudio Ranieri's side in a pre-season friendly against Chesterfield.
