Lazio reveal Manchester United are to blame for Mason Greenwood's failed deadline day move as the forward joined Getafe instead... with Serie A side's president saying they 'tried until the last minute'

Lazio have revealed that Manchester United are to blame for their failed move for Mason Greenwood as the forward instead joined Getafe on deadline day.

The 21-year-old completed his move to the La Liga side and they will not be paying a fee for, but will cover a small contribution of his wages for the duration of the loan.

However, it looked likely that he would end up in the Serie A on deadline day as Lazio were heavily linked with a move for the English forward.

Lazio's president, Claudio Lotito, claims Greenwood was keen to join the Serie A club but United did not sign the paperwork in time.
