Legendary Barcelona midfielders Andres Iniesta and Javier Mascherano will be reunited at Argentina Superliga club Estudiantes if club president Juan Sebastian Veron succeeds in an audacious bid to sign Iniesta from Vissel Kobe.
Former Manchester United record signing Veron oversaw the capture of Mascherano in November and has now launched an attempt to entice Iniesta from the J1 League club, who he joined after making an emotional departure from Barca at the end of the 2017-18 season.
Estudiantes coach Gabriel Milito played behind Mascherano and Iniesta when the Liga champions won the Champions League in 2011 – four years before the midfield pair lifted the trophy again with Iniesta as captain.
