Jimmy Nicholson dead at 82: Man United lead tributes to former midfielder and Huddersfield legend

Manchester United have announced the death of their former midfielder Jimmy Nicholson at the age of 82.

The Northern Irish midfielder began his career at Man United and made 68 appearances in the first team between 1960 and 1963, scoring 16 times.

Nicholson went on to join Huddersfield Town, where he had a nine-year spell at the club.

He made 310 appearances and scored 29 goals for the Terriers, as well as captaining the side to the 1969/70 second division title.

The midfielder is also the club's record international appearance holder, having won 31 of his 41 Northern Ireland caps while at Huddersfield.
