Jesse Lingard has said Manchester United will be ready for the 2019/20 season despite ending the current campaign in a disappointing manner.

The Reds went down 2-0 to Cardiff City on Sunday afternoon, with Nathaniel Mendez-Laing’s brace ensuring Neil Warnock’s men came away with all three points.

The defeat also means United finished sixth in the table, a performance Jesse knows is simply not good enough for a club of our stature.

“It’s disappointing,”

Lingard told MUTV after the game.

“We’re looking forward to next season, we’ll regroup and come back stronger.

“It’s hard for everyone: fans, staff, players, everyone associated with the club. It’s not where we need to be.
