'I told him I think it's great': Julian Nagelsmann reveals he has congratulated Ralf Rangnick as he prepares to become Man United's interim boss - and predicts his mentor will do 'very well' at the club

Julian Nagelsmann has hailed Manchester United's expected appointment of Ralf Rangnick as their interim manager until the end of the season - and believes the veteran tactician will help transform the struggling club.

Rangnick, 63, has reached an agreement to take charge at Old Trafford on a six-month contract, and will then take up a two-year consultancy role. He has influenced many of the game's best coaches, with Nagelsmann among them.

And, speaking at Bayern Munich's pre-match press conference this afternoon, Nagelsmann says Rangnick - his former mentor - will do 'very well' in his new role.
