Shortly before 8pm on Tuesday night, Jesse Lingard will walk out at Old Trafford as an opposition player – something he thought he would never experience.
Lingard hopes to help an improving Nottingham Forest side claim their best result of the season so far by defeating Manchester United, the club where Lingard spent nearly his entire career.
However Lingard might try to downplay it in his mind, this cannot be a game like any other. The attacker joined United aged seven and, after loan stints with four different clubs, described it as ‘a dream come true’ when he scored his first competitive goal for them in 2015.
