'He needs more time to develop as a manager': Mikael Silvestre insists former Manchester United team-mate Wayne Rooney is NOT ready to take the vacant Everton job and needs more time to 'learn his craft'

Wayne Rooney is not ready to become Everton manager according to former Manchester United team-mate Mikael Silvestre.

Everton are on the lookout for a permanent manager, with Duncan Ferguson taking over the role on an interim basis following the sacking of Rafael Benitez after their 2-1 defeat to Norwich.

Former Everton star Rooney meanwhile has impressed at Derby County in difficult circumstances given their 21-point deduction which leaves them in the Championship relegation zone.
