Former Liverpool scout reveals how he tried to sign Gerard Pique, John Terry and Cristiano Ronaldo during his time under Gerard Houllier

Former Liverpool scout Alex Miller has revealed how close he came to signing Gerard Pique, John Terry and Cristiano Ronaldo for the Merseyside club.

Miller, who served as a Director of Scouting under Gerard Houllier and then as first-team coach under Rafa Benitez, wanted to bring the trio to Anfield during the earlier stages of the career.

The 68-year-old recalls how Manchester United beat him to the punch with Pique after seeing the defender at a youth tournament.
