The Reds' legendary former shot-stopper was back in town for the first time since departing the club in the summer of 2023.
De Gea signed for Fiorentina 12 months later and the Italian side provided the opposition for United's final pre-season outing of the summer, in the Snapdragon Cup meeting in M16.
Ahead of the clash, United's former no.1 was presented with a commemorative award by his friend and ex-team-mate Bruno Fernandes, recognising his exemplary service to the club for a 12-year period.
There was another special moment for the Spaniard late in the contest, when he was replaced by Tomasso Martinelli three minutes from full-time, and given a standing ovation by supporters in all corners of the stadium.
