David Coote is announced as this season's Carabao Cup final referee between Manchester United and Newcastle at Wembley - with Peter Bankes confirmed as the VAR official

David Coote will referee the Carabao Cup final between Newcastle and Manchester United at Wembley.

The PGMOL confirmed the 40-year-old will be taking charge of the clash on February 26 in the Magpies first cup final since 1999.

Coote will be assisted by Nick Hopton and Tim Wood, while the fourth official will be Simon Hooper.

Peter Bankes will be in charge of VAR and will receive assistance from Eddie Smart.
