Danny Drinkwater calling time on his miserable spell at Chelsea brings an end to one of the most disastrous transfers in Premier League history... but where does his doomed £35m switch to Stamford Bridge stack up against the worst ever top-flight buys?

Danny Drinkwater is set to leave Chelsea upon the expiry of his contract this month, bringing an end to one of the worst transfers in Premier League history.

The English midfielder arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2017 one year after playing an integral role in Leicester's shock Premier League title triumph, with Antonio Conte and Co forking out £35million to prise him away from the King Power Stadium.

Yet after featuring 22 times in his first season, Drinkwater only made one appearance in his next four years in west London, spending the majority of his time out on loan and encountering a number of problems off the pitch.
