Cristiano Ronaldo joining Al-Nassr is 'a bit like Pele's arrival' at the New York Cosmos, says Rudi Garcia - as Saudi Arabian side's boss believes forward's signing is an 'important development for the Middle East' and has 'put a spotlight' on the club

Cristiano Ronaldo's new club coach Rudi Garcia has compared the Portuguese star's arrival at Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia to Pele's signing with the New York Cosmos in 1975.

Pele, who sadly passed away at the age of 82 recently, came out of partial retirement to spark an explosion of interest in football in the United States of America at the age of 34.

Veteran forward Ronaldo is not too dissimilar, as he is coming out of a bitter divorce with Manchester United after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract following his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan.
