Confirmed: The severity of Bailly's knee injury

The problem means that the Ivory Coast international will not play for the Reds again this season, missing the remaining top-flight matches against Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City.

Furthermore, Bailly is also now unable to play in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

The Africa Cup of Nations, held this year in Egypt, is the biggest tournament yet with 24 teams. It is also the first to be held in Europe's summer rather than January or February. It will take place from 21 June to 19 July.

Bailly had hoped to represent his nation in their group games against South Africa, Morocco and Namibia, but unfortunately his knee injury will not allow it.
