Chris Kavanagh is deemed fit to return to Premier League officiating despite only passing his fitness test at the end of August... as he is named VAR for Man United's game against Brighton

Chris Kavanagh has been deemed fit to return to the Premier League after being handed his first assignment of the season – as VAR of Manchester United against Brighton this Saturday.

Kavanagh has been sidelined this season with the 38-year-old English official believed to have only recently passed his fitness test at the end of August.

He was eased back into refereeing by being handed MK Dons' 1-1 draw with Notts County in League Two at the weekend. Yet now he will be the eyes and ears from Stockley Park for United's big clash with Brighton.
