Jose Mourinho has spent a staggering £1.3billion on players during his managerial career - around £300million more than the second-ranked boss.

The Portuguese has never been afraid to splash the cash - whether at Chelsea, Real Madrid or Manchester United - and new research highlights just how much more he has spent than any other manager.

Carlo Ancelotti is the next highest in the list of big spending managers but his outlay at the likes of AC Milan, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Real and Bayern Munich is £300m less than Mourinho at just shy of £1bn.
