Arsenal have agreed a deal worth £22million plus add-ons for Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes.
Napoli last night made a concerted effort to hijack the transfer, and out of courtesy their offer will be considered, but the left-sided Brazilian centre-back is keen to play for Mikel Arteta and link up with compatriots David Luiz and Willian.
He is expected to confirm his decision this week.
The 22-year-old is regarded as one of the best young defenders in Europe hence being courted by a number of clubs notably Napoli, Everton, Manchester United and Chelsea.
He had originally been lined up to join Everton back in March prior to the Coronavirus outbreak but talks stalled allowing others to move in.
