The Serie A match was just 12 minutes old when Inter, who are chasing their rivals AC Milan at the top of the table, were awarded a penalty for handball following a VAR review by referee Paolo Valeri.
But presented with an opportunity to fire Inter into an early lead, Sanchez was too casual from 12 yards.
