'We expect more from ourselves': Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson says thrashing by Manchester City left the team 'bitterly disappointed' as the champions were given reality check

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has revealed the team's agony after being thrashed 4-0 by rivals Manchester City - saying the players are 'bitterly disappointed' and expect much more from themselves.

The Reds were crowned Premier League champions last week for the first time in 30 years, and their clash at the Etihad was chance to show why they have been the best team in England this season.

But Jurgen Klopp's men were brought crashing back down to earth as City ran riot, with goals from Kevin de Bruyne, Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden and an own goal by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain wrapping up a thumping win.
