Vincent Kompany in talks to become the new Burnley manager with the Manchester City legend keen to return to the North West where his wife's family are from and replace Sean Dyche after their relegation

Vincent Kompany is in talks to become Burnley manager after Anderlecht confirmed he is leaving the Belgian club.

The former Manchester City defender, 36, is keen to replace Sean Dyche and return to the North West, where his wife Carla’s family are from.

Kompany has also attracted interest from Borussia Monchengladbach, but is now favourite for the Burnley job.

He has revived Anderlecht’s fortunes since returning to his boyhood club, leading them to third place this season.

Kompany said: ‘Today only one feeling prevails: I am proud that I was able to start this new chapter at the club of my heart.
