Rio Ferdinand says he's surprised at the timing of Jose Mourinho's sacking, days before Tottenham play out the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City.

Mourinho, 58, replaced Mauricio Pochettino in November 2019 but has now been dismissed after a dismal Premier League campaign and failure in the Europa League.

It means that that the Portuguese manager doesn't get a chance to help Tottenham win their first trophy since 2008.
