Sergio Ramos left Real Madrid at the end of his contract this summer and was briefly available on a free transfer, but Goal say he rejected offers from Manchester City and Arsenal before agreeing a lucrative two-year deal with Paris Saint-Germain.
The 35-year-old was in talks with Real over a new deal, but Los Blancos weren’t willing to meet his demands. As Ramos had struggled for form, fitness and playing time last season, Real only offered a one-year deal and wanted him to take a paycut on his €12m-a-year (£10.3m-a-year) salary.
He dawdled on the deal and was eventually told that it had expired.
