Raheem Sterling flourishes under Pep Guardiola to silence his critics

There can't be too many critics of Raheem Sterling remaining. Ahead of his £49 million move to Manchester City in the summer of 2015, there was a great deal of noise suggesting it was better for his career to stay on Merseyside.

Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard quickly nailed their colours to the mast -- and they were joined by others, such as Harry Redknapp and Jason McAteer in urging the young forward to remain with the Reds.

Sterling began impressively in Manuel Pellegrini's City team and linked up well with Aleksandar Kolarov on the left flank, especially in a run of five wins in the opening five matches.
