It is more than three years ago now that I walked around the outfield at Newlands in Cape Town with Stuart Broad and talked about the end of his career and when it would come and how much time he had left and how many more wickets he had in him.

Broad and Jimmy Anderson have been asked about the end almost from the beginning but as we gear up for an eagerly-awaited, evenly-balanced Ashes series and the first day of the First Test at Edgbaston on Friday, they are still making a mockery of those questions.
