Manchester United lifted the first trophy of the new season by winning the Community Shield on Sunday, but that might prove to be a negative for the season ahead.
No side has managed to win the Premier League after lifting the trophy since United themselves in 2010-11.
That season they beat reigning champions Chelsea 3-1 before going on to win the title with 80 points, nine ahead of the Stamford Bridge side.
Since then no team has combined winning the traditional season opener with a place atop the table.
