Manchester City are expected to push though a deal for Velez Sarsfield midfielder Maximo Perrone this week.
The highly-rated 19-year-old is set to play in the South American U-20 Championship for Argentina this month, but has been expected to leave after the tournament to join one of Europe's top leagues.
He has been on the radar of Premier League sides Wolves and Newcastle, as well as Portuguese outfit Benfica, but City are set to win the race for the youngster.
