Manchester City have poached Newcastle's first-team coaching analyst Mark Leyland after just 14 months at St James' Park in a significant blow to Eddie Howe's management team.
The former Everton and Burnley analyst joined Newcastle from Liverpool midway through last season, with Howe praising his 'big impact' and the 'huge part' he played in the club's transformation from relegations candidates to finishing 11th in the Premier League.
Leyland is due to leave Newcastle at the end of the season so his departure should not derail their attempts to qualify for the Champions League, but is a setback for Howe given his influence amongst his back-room team.
