Man City get late win against Sunderland thanks to McNair own goal

Manchester City got off to a winning start to the Pep Guardiola era with a late 2-1 victory against Sunderland.

Guardiola immediately rung some changes with Joe Hart dropped for Willy Caballero in goal, Nolito given his debut, Yaya Toure not even in the matchday squad, and Aleksandar Kolarov used in central defence alongside £47.5 million signing John Stones.

It did not take long for City to break through as Raheem Sterling, who impressed in preseason on the right-wing, won a penalty inside five minutes with a neat turn in the box which drew a foul from Patrick Van Aanholt.
