Liverpool 'tapping up' case: Father urges club to emulate Man City

The father of the schoolboy at the centre of the Liverpool tapping-up row has told The Daily Telegraph the club should follow the example set by Manchester City.

Both Liverpool and City have been given two-year academy transfer bans -- the second year suspended for a three-year period -- for breaking Premier League rules on youth recruitment.

Liverpool were found to have spoken to a 13-year-old Stoke City youngster before they should have done, paying for him and his family to attend a game at Anfield and offering to fund his private school fees, viewed by the league as a forbidden inducement.
