Alan Shearer has slammed Dwight Gayle's shocking miss as Newcastle lost 2-0 to Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

With the Magpies trailing 1-0 in the 67th minute, substitute Gayle spurned a golden chance to equalise but blasted over from six yards out with the goal gaping.

To add to the striker's woes, Pep Guardiola's side doubled their lead just sixty seconds later thanks to a Raheem Sterling strike to seal their passage into the cup semifinals.
