Fernandinho cleared by Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare after leaving Marc Albrighton with golf ball-sized bump

Leicester City interim manager Craig Shakespeare has cleared Manchester City's Fernandinho of deliberately trying to hurt Marc Albrighton after the Foxes winger was left with a nasty facial wound.

Albrighton was caught by the Brazilian's flailing arm during Saturday's Premier League game at the Etihad Stadium.

Albrighton was clearly incensed by Fernandinho's challenge during the second half of Manchester City's 2-1 win and, after receiving treatment on a badly-swollen eye, gestured towards referee Robert Madley that his opponent had used an elbow.

The Leicester player played on with a reddened golf ball-sized bump underneath his right eye but Shakespeare tried to diffuse the situation after the final whistle by absolving Fernandinho of any malice.
