EXCLUSIVEMerseyside Police on high alert ahead of Man City's trip to Anfield after their bus was attacked in 2018 and 2022... but Premier League champions' coach will follow the usual route before Liverpool clash

Merseyside Police will place extra focus on Manchester City’s bus route into Anfield following a spate of attacks on opposition coaches.

Mail Sport understands that Pep Guardiola and his side will take the usual route to Liverpool’s ground for Sunday’s title showdown.

On previous occasions their transport has been pelted with missiles launched by home supporters as part of a feisty so-called ‘welcome’ to Anfield.

And in December Manchester United’s bus was hit and damaged by a glass cider bottle as Eric ten Hag’s man made their way to the stadium ahead of a 0-0 draw.
