Louis Saha Matturie, a friend of the former Manchester City star Benjamin Mendy, has been cleared of two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault after a re-trial at Chester Crown Court today.

Jurors were unable to agree on a verdict in relation to another allegation of sexual assault following a trial. A further hearing is scheduled for next week for prosecutors to decide whether they will continue to pursue the allegation.

Mr Matturie was accused of sexual crimes by three different young women, offences allegedly committed within the space of four months in 2021 when Mr Mendy played for Manchester City following a £52million transfer from Monaco.
