Georgia Stanway has opened up on how former Manchester United footballer Luke Chadwick became her mentor after the England midfielder went through a mental battle at Manchester City.
Stanway, who joined Bayern Munich last summer, said she experienced a dip during the 2020-2021 season with her position in City’s team changing on a near weekly basis due to injuries.
The midfielder was put in touch with Chadwick, who had joined her agency to help players who were experiencing a range of different issues. Chadwick spoke out in 2020 on how he was tormented by the abuse he received as a young player over his appearance and looks.
