Gareth Southgate is considering a clutch of first-time picks when he names his first squad of 2022 on Thursday with Crystal Palace duo Tyrick Mitchell and Marc Guehi among those on his radar.
England No 2 Steve Holland was at Selhurst Park on Monday night and would have been impressed by Eagles defenders Guehi and Mitchell in the 0-0 draw against Manchester City.
Mitchell, in particular, could come into Southgate's thinking with the England boss facing a selection headache at left back as he finalises his squad for the forthcoming friendlies with Switzerland and Ivory Coast.
